How to set up budget and alert in Azure Portal?

Budget is a crucial part of any project. It is also something we tend to ignore while doing some other complex technical stuffs. Here is how we can quickly set up the budget for us and get alerted if it reaches the threshold which we stetted up.

  • Go to Cost Management + Billing services.
  • Under overview, select your desired subscription.
  • Under Cost management > Budgets > + Add
  • The budget you create will be assigned to the selected scope. Give your budget a unique name. Select the time window it analyses during each evaluation period, its expiration date and the amount. Give your budget amount threshold.
  • Select Next
  • Under Alert Conditions, Choose alert type : Actual , % budget (100 or 90). Under Alert email Put in your email where you want to receive alert
  • Click Create, budget will be created. You can find it under Cost management > Budgets. Click on your budget plan.
  • Click on pin icon to pin it on dashboard.
